July 1st, 2024 is the 157th anniversary of Canadian Confederation. So what is the state of public affairs in the Northern Kingdom?
For the first time on record life expectancy among Canadians has declined for a third straight year. Ominiously it has fallen more amongst women than it has for men. This too is a first! (source Global News). The greatest success for Canada's state run health system is medically assisted suicide. Since 2016 44,958 human beings have had their life terminated by a Canadian health practitioner(s). (Canada.ca) In Canada when doctors fail to cure a patient they get to end their patients life. A motto for the Great White North's medical system could be - "out of sight, out of mind."
Owning a home in Canada is becoming a luxury fewer and fewer Canadians can afford. One in 6 homeowners are finding their home unaffordable. (CTV News). So the federal government has employed a policy of mass immigration to further increase the price of housing.
In foreign affairs the principal effort employed by the federal government is to support the war effort of a nation (Ukraine) thousands of miles away from North America, whose survival has no effect on Canada's vital interests. By the end of 2024 financial support by Canada to Ukraine will total $3.02 billion Canadian (pm.gc.ca February 24, 2024). No doubt Canadians struggling financially will welcome their federal governments generous subsidies to far away Ukraine.
Another repercussion of the Ukraine boondoggle is that it has tied the nation ever closer to the hyper aggressive NATO alliance (NATO nations place military arms on Russia's borders yet the Russians are the aggressors(?) ). Canadian state policy is to follow the concensus of confrontation with Russia even though Canadian Armed Forces could, according to the Canadian Defence Department, only contribute 2000-2500 soldiers in a modern battle situation (MacDonald Laurier Institute). Perhaps the reason for this hyprocrisy is it lets' the government attempt to be all things to all people.
Freedom of Speech is under threat in the kingdom, a threat initiated by the elected parliament of Canada. An online speech bill outlawing the most innocuous of opinion was passed into law by MP lawmakers. At least 57% of Canadian citizens see the bill as a threat to free speech. ( City News Ottawa, May 3, 2024). Nevertheless the bill was made law of the land.
A member of Parliament is eligible for a full retirement pension after serving 6 years in the House of Commons. Meanwhile most Canadians now find retirement unaffordable.
Canada's most famous entertainer, Drake, is a thug!
It appears having abandoned God God is abandoning Canadians.
So why are Canadians celebrating on July 1st?
(UN)Happy Canada Day!
