Internet Sensation On Insurrection!

David Betz, Professor of War at the Department of War Studies Kings College London, is the unlikliest academic to become an internet sensation. A transplanted Canadian who emigrated to the United Kingdom in 1998, Betz has kept the date of his birth a guarded secret. Various internet sources have listed the year of his birth within a range which commences at 1954, and extends to 1969. It is known that he was born in Canada, acquired both a Bachelors Degree and Master's Degree in History from Carleton University (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada). His special area of historical study at Carleton for both his B.A., and M.A. was Central and East European Studies. After serving in the miitary Betz emigrated to Great Britain in 1998, attending Glasgow University where he achieved a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in 2002. It was at that time he joined the Department of War Studies, Kings College, in London, England. He is now a British citizen.

David Betz research interests at King's College became insurgencies, counter insurgencies, information warfare and cyber warfare, propaganda, as well as civil military relations, and strategy. Besides being a mouthful to state, these interests sound dry, and technical to outside observers. Add to this state of affairs Betz precise style of expressing his expertise, and one can imagine listening to the learned professor as an experience equivelent to spending a cold February Monday evening in Timmins, Ontario. Despite that impression the Professor of War has built up a formidable reputation amongst his peers, becoming head of the Insurgency Research Group, and Senior Fellow of the Foreign Policy Research Institute. Yet to the general public he was, until recently, an unknown entity!

This situation changed dramatically after the Brexit/Covid Contaigent Era which afflicted Britain. Observing what he believed to be alarming poitical trends transpiring within the United Kingdom, as well as Western Europe, the scholar predicted that on their present trajectory Britain, France, and the rest of Western Europe would descend into civil war within a very short period of time. Roughly less than 10 years! Furthermore the War College Professor maintained this development was past a point of no return. It could not be stopped!

Upon the initiation of the Good Friday Agreement of 1998, which ended the sectarian conflict in Northern Ireland, Europe's last violent insurgency conflict was terminated. As Betz explained it himself, between 1998-2021, when the word insurgency was used it brought to mind nations "filled with little brown men shooting and killing each other for nonsensical reasons."This, the former Canadian predicted, was about to change. Violent Civil Conflict was, after a long absence, making it's way back to Europe.

Among the factors creating the impetus for civil conflict on the old continent is mass immigration, which threatens dominant nativist majorities in multiple nations with replacement. These nativist majorities, sensing their status devolving, fell an increasing urge to arrest this development before it transpires. A second reason for conflict is a diminishing standard of living expectation. Poor economic policies on the part of Western Governments mean that the younger generation of citizens are, on average, going to experience a lower standard of living then their parents, despite the fact they are better educated than their progenitors. Another factor encouraging civil war is the immense decline in good governance among Western jurisdictions. Government(s) in these countries have for a noticable period of time failed to function competently, indeed all to often they are dysfunctional!

Perhaps the most worrisome sympton that Western Civilization is fragmenting in a dangerous way is the growth of tribal opinion. Professor Betz see's individuals forming political/social opinions according to what they believe members of their tribe (i.e. racial, religious, political party, etc.) hold, rather than what they personaaly believe is "right,"or "wrong."This fragmentation, combined with it's root cause, will result in uncomprimising confrontation which will almost certainly lead to armed conflict.

This violent conflict, according to the War College Professor, will not be similar to the American and English civil wars which had large standing armies and navies facing off against each other. Rather this insurrection will be a "dirty war", as occurred in Ireland during the 'Time of Troubles. Pipe bombs exploding in shopping stores, unpopular jurists executed then hung from highway overpasses, controversal journalists gunned down in the street, will be how events play out in this modern version of man's oldest profession.

Another aspect of this conflict is that it will be multi-dimensional. Urban, mainly ethnic communities will square off against the national government(s), as well as battling the surrounding rural population. The rural population, mostly white European nativist, will also battle the government(s), and violently fight the urban inhabitants in the cities. Due to their ineptitude, and perceived illegitimacy, government forces will only be able to secure tiny amounts of territory, most probably around the nations capital.

This leaves the main contest between urban, ethnic, immigrant forces in dispute with Christian, white, nativist rural interests. Due to the fragility of urban infrastructure Professor Betz believes rural insurgents possess a decided advantage in this (soon to be) future confrontation. As in most civilization wars the fighting will be even more severe, and cruel, than usual armed violent fighting!

These pronouncements, first written in periodical articles, then podcasts, interviews, and even a book, have made the scholar, as stated earlier, an internet sensation. Professor Betz's style of presentation, with it's carefully worded academic tone, gives force to his arguments. Interestingly Betz X account is not so precise in it's rhetoric. Nevertheless to anyone who follows the War Professor it is apparent he has an impressive knowledge of his area of expertise. It is highlyn recommended that the reader check out this (surprisingly) interesting individual.

That Britain and Western Europe are in an existential state of decline is apparent to any observer who pays attention to the Old World. Listening and/or reading Dr. Betz is a valuable instruction to the reader/listener/watcher on why this has occurred, and what might well be the future for this troubled section of the globe!
