Meet The New Boss, Same As The Old Boss

This article's title are words from the iconic song "Won't Get Fooled Again" sung by the rock band "The Who." It is a cynical statement on how politics is packaged throughout the western world. Indeed citizens throughout the western world over the last century have been barraged by repeated false messiah's, all claiming that they will bring welcome change to their nation's politics if the voters entrust them with politic power. Nevertheless once in control of the realm they emersh themselves into even deeper practices of corrupt public life than the predecessors. As a result the citizens of most nation's tred warily when presented with a new white knight who supposedly wants to right the ship of state. There is one sad exception to this state of affairs. In Canada the people at the centre and eastern parts of the country ( Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland) happily let themselves be fooled into accepting new saviours time after time. Why they do this is anyones guess, perhaps it is some form of self loathing. Certainly the people of these regions who repeatedly exercise their franchise for malignant lawmakers are loathed by voters in the rest of Canada. Ultimately why the people of central and eastern Canada keep committing their transgressions is not important, what is pertinent is that they keep repeating the same nonsensical actions.
Recently (April 28, 2025) the denizens of eastern and central Canada rewarded the most inept federal political administration in the nations history with an undeserved electoral victory. Giving this group of people another kick at the can is folly indeed. In 2016 the federal liberals attained political control of one of the most ably managed nations on earth. Canadians at that time earned on average the same income as their United States neighbours. At the same time a high degree of individual freedom existed in the Northern Kingdom, complimented by a high performing health system, and a constitutional political culture which was relatively tranquil, having earlier overcome a period of national unity crisis
Over the last nine years under 9 years of federal liberal goverance(?) the nation is now an economic disaster. The wage income of the average Canadian is 60% of his American counterpart, the personnal debt load of Canadians is 102% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the public debt load (Governments debt load) is 102.5% of GDP, while the private debt load (This includes businesses) is 212% of GDP. Money leaving the nation (outflows) is at record highs, while money being invested in Canada from abroad (inflows) is at record lows. The Organization of Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) projects Canada to finish last among developed nations in every major economic category not only this year but for every year until 2060. Forty percent of the Canadian economy is tied up in housing. This is truly perilous. Housing costs are through the roof (excuse the pun), yet to create affordable housing would send the economy into a major recession, perhaps even a depression. Meanwhile healthcare within Canada has descended to scandalously poor levels. Ontario, Canada's most populous province, ranks first in the nation for healthcare. Yet in Ontario the average time between an initial appointment with a family doctor until a procedure is performed under a specialists care is one year.
Any meaningful individual liberty within Canada was removed during the Covid dystopia. An example of this state of affairs is government regulation of social media which has entered areas that the ruling Ingsoc Party of George Orwells Oceania would hesitate to delve into.
Sporting such a record it seems only logical that the Liberal Party of Canada, the entity most responsible for the nations' demise would suffer political oblivion at the hands of their constituents. Facing this epic disaster the Liberal Party leaders publicly ascribed all their mismanagement sins to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. That done they then forced Mr. Trudeau to resign. In Mr. Trudeau's place the Party members coronated Mark Carney, former Governor of both The Bank of Canada, and The Bank of England. Mr. Carney was promoted as a man who could rectify the Canadian ship of state into calm waters. After all it is a well known fact that central bankers hold the interests of middle class citizens dear to their heart. Or is it that central bankers do not hold the interests of middle class citizens dear to their heart?
On April 28th the nations voters went to the ballot box to elect a new federal government. West of Ontario the verdict was a condemnation of the Liberal Party Legacy. East of Manitoba the voters went for the Liberals in such strength that the party was returned to political power just short of a parliamentary majority. (168 seats out of 172 required for a majority government). Based on what had transpired within Canada during the previous nine years it was/is an incredible development, and a blight on the mindset of the eastern and central Canadian voter! To reward failure, while placing hopes for salvation on an individual whose only credentials is as a glorified bank manager, is rash to say the least.
"Western Society is morally rotten, and it has been corrupted by capitalism. This requires rigid control of personnel freedoms, industry and coporate funding. This is not a promise to make lives of ordinary people better but temporary worse. This will be a world of severely constrained choice, less flying, less meat, more inconvenience and temporary more poverty. Assets will be stranded, gasoline cars will be unsellable, and inefficient properties shall be un-rentable." ( Mark Carney in his book "Building a Better World for All").
A quick glance at this statement seems to indicate that Mr. Carney is condemning capitalism and then stating why he does so. Yet a more investigative query raises the question: is the Globalist banker condemning capitalism and then advocating for methods to be employed to defeat capitalism? Mr. Carney has in the past charged political protestors with being guilty of sedition.
Based on previous actions it can be argued that Mr. Carney will continue Mr. Trudeau's authoritarian policies. As Governor of the Bank of England Mark Carney politicized that reputable institution, entering into the Brexit debate despite being advised by former Bank Governors not to commit such an action. Advocating for Britain to remain in the European Union, his efforts were counter productive to his cause as Brittons were adverse to being advised on such a fundamental issue by a foreigner. As well seeing their esteemed national bank being tarnished (in their eyes) produced a negative result among Brittons. Subsequently when the British people voted for Brexit Mr. Carney suggested that the vote be ignored, or not acted upon.
During the famous Canadian Trucker Convoy episode Mr. Carney repeatedly insisted that the truckers were not engaging in protest, rather that they were guilty of sedition (rebellion). He strongly recommended debanking anyone who supported the truckers, even though there was no law making contributions to the truckers illegal. When the federal government followed the debanking recommendations they inflicted irreperable harm on Canadian banks by sowing seeds of distrust toward the nations banking institutions. This was particularly true within international financial centres.
Mr. Carney's most alarming belief is his strong faith in Central bank Digital Currencies (CBDC). If enacted this policy will give government total control over every single Canadian. A centralized bureaucracy based out of Ottawa will know where every dollar is being spent throughout the nation. Technology will also give them the ability to freeze anyones finances when, and where, government sees fit. ( As occurred to trucker convoy donators on Mr. Carney's strong urging).
Canadians have jumped from the frying pan into the fire. Mr. Carney will be different in style than Mr. Trudeau yet his policies will be even more authoritarian than Justin Trudeau. If individual liberty is to survive in Western Canada it will be will be through western separation (secession). In central and eastern Canada the only way individual liberty can sprout once again is to remove all left, and left of centre, political parties from political rule. First and foremost remove Mr. Carney from any lawmaking position! Unfortunately this is far from likely!
